The U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights and the University of Virginia have entered into a resolution agreement tregarding the University’s handling of sexual violence and sexual harassment and the requirements of Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. The agreement concludes the office’s compliance review of the University, which began in 2011, and affirms U.Va.’s commitment to addressing sexual assault and misconduct.
In concert with the Association of American Universities, the University also has released the results of the first Campus Climate Survey on Sexual Assault and Sexual Misconduct. U.Va. In all, 27 institutions surveyed students on the issue, offering them new insights that may help guide policy and procedures and enhance efforts to create safe learning environments.
