Put Outstanding Employees in the Spotlight

Each year, the University of Virginia community has the opportunity to recognize excellent employees and coworkers by nominating them for Leonard W. Sandridge Outstanding Contribution Awards – the highest honor for staff at the University.

This year’s deadline is March 19. More information is available on the Human Resources website and through employee council and human resources representatives.

Committees from the Academic Division, Medical Center and College at Wise will select the winners. They will be employees who make outstanding contributions to the overall mission, objectives and values of the University, and whose activities have enhanced internal and public regard for U.Va.’s services. Their contributions may serve students, fellow employees, patients or other clients of the University. Contributions can include improving work methods or productivity, or decreasing costs for U.Va. or the commonwealth.

Each recipient will be publicly recognized at the Service Awards Day ceremony in May and receive an engraved gift, as well as a $1,000 cash award. Detailed information will be sent to honorees and their departments closer to the event date.

Nominations should be submitted either via email to AskHR@virginia.edu or in hard copy to the Office of University Human Resources, P.O. Box 400127, 914 Emmet Street, Michie South, by 5 p.m. on March 19.
