University of Virginia students interested in international education have an array of options from which to choose this week, as the University observes International Education Week, which runs through Friday.

International Education Week, a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education, promotes programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn and exchange experiences in the United States.

The International Studies Office is hosting several events. On Wednesday, the ISO is offering a study abroad open house, a resume workshop that teaches students how to incorporate international experiences into their work history and a panel discussion on how to develop an international career path.

Thursday, the Lorna Sundberg International Center is holding a movie night featuring "Rabbit-Proof Fence," about Australia's Aboriginal integration program of the 1930s.

The Office of the Vice Provost for International Programs continues its Ambassadors' Speaker’s Forum Monday from 5 to 6 p.m. in the Dome Room of the Rotunda. Turkey's ambassador to the United States, Namzk Tam, will speak about foreign relations and ties with the United States. On Thursday, Robert O. Blake, U.S. assistant secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs will discuss his recent participation in the 17th annual summit of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation in the Maldives, also at 5 p.m. in the Dome Room. Both events are free and open to the public.

In addition, the Center for International Studies seminar series continues Thursday. Sheila Crane, an assistant professor in the School of Architecture, will present "The Battles of Algiers: Housing as Weapon in the Civil War" at 5 p.m. in Hotel A, One West Range.
