Sept. 19, 2007 -- U.Va.'s new educational program, More than the Score, will be offered to all alumni, parents, and friends on the mornings of home football games on Sept. 22 and 29, Oct. 13 and Nov. 3.
George Bloom, professor of biology, will give the next talk, on Sept. 22, titled, "On the Road to Curing Alzheimer’s Disease: How to Relieve a Traffic Jam in the Brain." The symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease reflect damage to connections among nerve cells in the brain. Bloom recently discovered how two proteins conspire to destroy these connections, and he hopes this discovery will propel the search to find a cure.
The lectures are free and open to the public. Limited seating. Refreshments provided. Advance registration required: http://uvaminds.com/
