Guterbock to Head Academic Survey Organization

March 24, 2009 — Tom Guterbock, director of the University of Virginia's Center for Survey Research, has been named president-elect of the Association of Academic Survey Research Organizations.

He will serve as president-elect in 2009-2010, then as president in 2010-11 and will remain on the executive council for another year as past president.

The association, established in May 2008, brings together more than 50 member survey centers in North American universities.

"As universities across the country are forced to cut their costs, academic survey centers are facing difficult challenges," Guterbock said. "AASRO's role is one of mutual support, fostering communication that helps university survey centers — large and small — to maintain their historic role as defenders of quality in survey research and innovators in survey methods."
