To help bring together a community shaken by violent white supremacist gatherings on Grounds and in Charlottesville last weekend, Virginia Athletics used social media this week to let the world know where the coaches and student-athletes stand, launching a social campaign that has now stretched far beyond the field.

The first post featured the coaches of many varsity sports, standing together. The post read: “UVA head coaches & staff in #Charlottesville today UNITE in support of LOVE, DIVERSITY & INCLUSION. #HoosTogether

The post launched a hashtag, #HoosTogether, that now includes hundreds of posts from all over the world, including many posts during Wednesday night’s community vigil on Grounds.

Both Athletics and the University invite UVA community members and those beyond to share meaningful photos and stories about what makes the University and Charlottesville special places for you. Post using the tag or email socialmedia@virginia.edu.
