When Massachusetts’ Gillette Stadium was named a site for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the NCAA needed a new venue to host its Division I, II and III men’s lacrosse championships.
Enter the University of Virginia, where big events have been happening.
“Championship Weekend,” as it’s better known in lacrosse circles, begins Saturday at Scott Stadium with the Division I semifinal games – Princeton University versus Duke University; the University of Notre Dame versus Syracuse University – and concludes with the Division I final at 1 p.m. Monday.
The Division III final between Tufts University and the Rochester Institute of Technology is set for noon on Sunday, with the Division II final between Adelphi University and the University of Tampa set for 4 p.m.
