UVA Today is a product of the Office of University Communications. The Media Relations Department, a unit of the Office of University Communications, is responsible for its content.
Media Relations tells the University's stories not only to media, but also faculty, staff, students, parents, alumni and friends. Working with communicators around Grounds, our staff of communications professionals provides insight into teaching and learning, research and scholarship, patient care, public service and student experience at the University's 11 schools, the Medical Center, and its many institutes, centers and programs. Media Relations produces UVA Today, UVA Today Daily Report, UVA Today News Blog and weekly TV segments, along with media advisories and press releases.
In addition, Media Relations connects the University to the wider community by distributing press releases about U.Va. news, including research findings, initiatives, concerts, speakers, exhibits and events. News officers reach out to faculty to respond to inquiries from local and national media, acquaint media with U.Va. experts who can comment on breaking news, and assist in the editing and distribution of faculty-written op-eds.
