February 14, 2012 — Full- and part-time University of Virginia faculty and staff who have a child or grandchild who will be – or is applying to be – a U.Va. undergraduate in the 2012-13 academic year, take note: She or he may be eligible to apply for the inaugural Leonard W. and Jerry S. Sandridge Scholarship and/or the Faculty and Staff Undergraduate Scholarship.

The application deadline for both of these scholarships is March 1.

Demonstrated financial need is a requirement for the Sandridge Scholarship and a preference in determining eligibility for the Faculty and Staff Scholarship. The amount, number and type of scholarships awarded in 2012-13 will vary based on the performance of the University's endowment, the number of applications and applicants' level of demonstrated financial need. In 2011-12, there was one new Faculty and Staff scholarship awarded and one renewal scholarship.
