William Wayne Johnson died Jan. 11 in Louisa. He was 67.

Johnson worked at the University of Virginia for 40 years as a painter and foreman with Facilities Management. He began working at U.Va. in August 1964 and retired in December 2004.

A funeral service will be held Jan. 15 at 1 p.m. in the Hill and Wood Funeral Home Chapel.

When Johnson retired, Bob Dillman, who was chief facilities officer at the time, wrote in a letter recognizing his accomplishments, “From the roof of the Rotunda to the basement of the hospital, you’ve been involved in painting almost every area of the University.

“William provided leadership and did a wonderful job preparing the next generation to care for the University,” Dillman said.
