#UVAPhotoContest Showcases Life on Grounds as the Year Winds Down

Each year, the #UVAPhotoContest captures the most picturesque locations on the University of Virginia’s Grounds through photos posted on Instagram. This spring, contestants were asked to showcase life on Grounds through images that included at least one person or animal.

Students, faculty and community members submitted more than 80 photos to the contest over the last two weeks. The Office of University Communications chose four finalists to be featured on UVA’s Instagram account and Facebook page. Followers were asked to vote for their favorite photo in the comments. More than 2,000 votes were tallied.

Congratulations to fourth-year student Yangyou Fang, who won this spring’s contest with her photo of the Lawn, shown above.

Fang said that as a member of the graduating class, it is an honor to walk the Lawn each day. “As an international student who came here just for college, UVA and the Lawn will always have a special place in my heart,” she said.

The other three contest finalists are featured below.

Amanda Engel, a first-year student, submitted this photo.
