Gov. Youngkin appoints four new members to UVA Board of Visitors

Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin on Friday announced the appointments of four new members to the University of Virginia Board of Visitors. The new members will take their seats in August.

The new members:

  • James Donovan, of Upperville, is vice chairman of Goldman Sachs and an adjunct law professor at the University of Virginia. He holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a Master of Business Administration degree from the MIT Sloan School and a juris doctorate from Harvard Law School.
  • John F. Harris, of Charlottesville, is a private investor. He previously served as managing director, chief financial officer and senior advisor for The Carlyle Group. Harris has served on the boards of the University of Virginia Alumni Association, the Jefferson Trust, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Virginia, the Virginia Film Festival and the Charlottesville Tom Sox. Harris holds a bachelor’s degree in commerce from UVA.
  • H. Eugene Lockhart, of Palm Beach, Florida, is the former CEO of Mastercard and co-founder of MissionOG. He has held chair positions on Monticello’s Thomas Jefferson Foundation, the UVA Alumni Association Board of Managers, the Darden Foundation and the State Council of Higher Education in Virginia. Lockhart holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from UVA and a Master of Business Administration degree from UVA’s Darden School of Business.
  • Calvert Saunders Moore, of Locust Valley, New York, is the president of Ivor & Co. LLC. She has volunteered at the Jefferson Scholars Foundation and has held positions on the Parents Committee and the Jeffersonian Grounds Initiative Board. Moore is a trustee emeritus of the University of Virginia College Foundation. She holds a bachelor’s degree from UVA’s College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences.

The appointments of Rector Robert D. Hardie of Charlottesville, Vice Rector Carlos M. Brown of Richmond, Robert M. Blue of Richmond and former U.S. Rep. L.F. Payne of Charlottesville conclude Monday.

“I’m thankful for the outstanding service and guidance that our outgoing board members have brought to UVA,” University President Jim Ryan said. “I’m also grateful for our new board members’ willingness to serve the University in this important role, and I look forward to working with them to advance UVA’s strategic plan and continue to strengthen our University community.”
