Flying in tight formation, 200 drones rose above the Lawn Wednesday night to create the University of Virginia’s signature “V-Sabres” logo for Hoos watching from below.
The drone show, originally scheduled for the Dec. 5 Lighting of the Lawn event, was postponed due to poor flying conditions. University Communications photographer Matt Riley was on the scene to catch Wednesday’s make-up show, put on by Charlottesville-based Airloom Drone Shows.
The show featured several UVA-themed images, including the Rotunda, an animated snowball fight, a football player and other holiday scenes.
