Gov. Glenn Youngkin officially informed the University of Virginia this week that he has appointed Ken Cuccinelli, an alumnus and former state attorney general, to the Board of Visitors.
Cuccinelli graduated from UVA in 1991 with a degree in mechanical engineering. He then attended George Mason University, where he earned a law degree and a master’s degree in international commerce and policy.
From 2002 to 2009, Cuccinelli served as the state senator for Virginia’s 37th Senate district, which includes Fairfax County and parts of the surrounding area. In 2009, voters elected him Virginia’s attorney general.
Youngkin appointed Cuccinelli to fill the remainder of the term of Bert Ellis, whom he removed from the UVA board last month.
