News in brief: UVA acquires former FEI property

The ownership transfer of the former Federal Executive Institute property to the University of Virginia was completed Friday.

The U.S. Department of Education transferred the deed to the University this week, following its mid-May announcement that the University would receive the Emmet Street property.

“UVA remains steadfast in its commitment to public service through our existing collaborations with the City of Charlottesville and Albemarle County,” Acting President Jennifer “J.J.” Wagner Davis said.

As specified in the deed, UVA will use the property for its ROTC and School of Continuing and Professional Studies programs. The University’s next steps include naming the property and completing necessary renovations and repairs, with plans to open it for classroom and programming use in the spring 2026 semester.
