The University of Virginia has assembled a 14-member group to conduct a nationwide search for UVA’s next provost.
The search committee, representing nearly all facets of the University, will seek a replacement for Provost Ian Baucom, who is leaving to become the next president of Middlebury College in Vermont. Baucom will step down as provost in March.
The committee includes:
- Malo Hutson, search committee chair; dean and Edward E. Elson Professor, School of Architecture
- Christa Acampora, dean of the College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences and Buckner W. Clay Professor of Philosophy
- Gabby Bray, 2023 College of Arts & Sciences graduate and current law student
- Ken Elzinga, Robert C. Taylor Professor of Economics, College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences
- Yael Grushka-Cockayne, Landmark Communication Inc. Professor of Business Administration; vice dean and senior associate dean for professional degree programs, Darden School of Business
- Devin Harris, professor and chair of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering
- Laura Hawthorne, associate vice provost for enrollment and University registrar; lecturer in religious studies
- John Kosky, vice president and chief human resources officer
- Lori McMahon, vice president for research and professor of neuroscience
- Amanda Pillion, member of the UVA Board of Visitors and mayor of Abingdon
- Mitchell Rosner, Henry B. Mulholland Professor of Medicine; chair, UVA Department of Medicine
- Jeri Seidman, Paul Goodloe McIntire Associate Professor of Commerce; chair-elect of the Faculty Senate
- Michael Suarez, director, Rare Book School; English professor and University Professor; honorary curator of UVA Special Collections
- Porter Wilkinson, member of the UVA Board of Visitors; counselor and chief of staff, Smithsonian Institution Board of Regents
The search will also include opportunities for members of the University community to share their expectations for the next provost via listening sessions facilitated by the University’s Executive Search Group.
