News in brief: UVA men’s tennis coach wins national honor for third time

University of Virginia men’s tennis coach Andres Pedroso has been named the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s National Coach of the Year for the third time in his career.

The honor comes after Pedroso led the Cavaliers to their seventh NCAA championship this spring. Virginia entered the tournament as the No. 4 seed and finished the season with a 28-4 record.

Pedroso previously earned the national coaching award in 2022 and 2023 following consecutive NCAA titles. He is the second UVA head coach to receive the ITA’s top coaching honor, joining former Virginia coach Brian Boland, who won the award in 2008 and 2016.

The 2025 season also featured individual success for the Cavaliers. Senior Måns Dahlberg and junior Dylan Dietrich captured the NCAA Doubles Championship in the fall, while Dahlberg, Dietrich and sophomore Keegan Rice earned NCAA Division I ITA All-America honors.
