The Bigger Picture: Marking the Wahoo Way

In a sign of community spirit and support, Charlottesville city street crews apply the crossed-sabres insignia of the University of Virginia to the Alderman Road pavement near Grounds, representing the energy and strength of the UVA community and UVA Athletics. The city and University are partnering to update the “V-Sabre” marks leading to Grounds, with 93 new insignias to be placed this year. New marks will be made on Copeley Road, near John Paul Jones Arena; Ivy Road, in front of the UVA police station and visitor’s center; Alderman Road; Stadium Road; Maury Avenue; and Fontaine Avenue. Additional emblems will be added in the summers of 2024 and 2025.
