Former Iranian President to Speak at the Rotunda Thursday, Sept. 7

Sept. 6, 2006 -- Former Iranian President Mohammad Khatami, the first high-ranking Iranian official to visit the United States in 30 years, will be on the Grounds of the University of Virginia Thursday at noon to deliver remarks at the Rotunda.

Access to the event in the Rotunda, which is being sponsored by the Institute for Advanced Studies in Culture, is by invitation. However, Khatami's speech will be video-streamed live into Newcomb Hall Theater so that additional members of the University community can observe his remarks. The doors to the theater, which holds 435 people, will open at 11:30 a.m.

For those unable to attend, a video and an audio pod cast of his remarks will be available on the University's Web site later in the week.
