Dozens of women across the Central Virginia area used golf to celebrate the life of a local educator on Tuesday. Marty Whitlow taught kindergarteners Albemarle County for more than 30 years before being diagnosed with Stage 3 ovarian cancer in 2009. “So many patients are diagnosed at late stage, so if we can find some of these in earlier stage or even a pre-cancerous stage, then we can make a huge impact on their overall outcome,” said Dr. Chip Landen of the UVA Cancer Center.
