Federal Judge Carlton W. Reeves of Jackson has ruled on some of the state’s biggest legal cases, including in November when he struck down a Mississippi law banning most abortions after 15 weeks. Now, Reeves has been named this year’s recipient of the Thomas Jefferson Foundation Medal in Law from the UVA School of Law, where he graduated from in 1989.
