January Teaching Workshop to be Held on Jan. 16

Jan. 4, 2007 -- The University of Virginia Teaching Resource Center invites all faculty to attend the annual January Teaching Workshop on Jan. 16, from 9 a.m. to 12:40 p.m. in Monroe Hall, followed by a lunch presentation on teaching with technology.

Three different sessions will be offered concurrently, both from 9:30 to 11 a.m., and from 11:10 a.m. to 12:40 p.m. Topics during the first session are “Using Peer Observation to Deepen Collegiality and Enhance Teaching,” “Reflective Teaching Statement: Effectively Communicating Your Work as a Teacher” and “Can We Talk? Methods and Principles for Interactive Lectures.” The second session will feature presentations on “How to Cultivate Lively Discussion in Your Classes,” “The Public Voice” and “Incorporating Service-Learning into Existing Courses.”

Participants are welcome to bring their own lunch, and those who pre-register by Jan. 11 and request a lunch will receive one at no cost. The TRC cannot provide lunch for those who do not pre-register by this date.
