Lower Floors of Newcomb Hall to Close for Renovation

May 17, 2012 — The lower three levels of Newcomb Hall at the University of Virginia will be closed for the summer to accommodate renovations.

From Monday through mid-August, only floors three through five will be open to the public, with access from the east side. The passenger elevator will be out of service during the summer to be refurbished. The exterior stairs surrounding the building will be open for pedestrian traffic for access to the bookstore and parking garage.

The first floor and theater level should reopen in mid-August, while renovation to the second floor will continue until November.
