August 10, 2009 — Craig Garrett Van de Castle, 52, died of pancreatic cancer Aug. 2 in Browns Cove. He earned a B.A. from the University of Virginia in 1980 and graduated from the School of Law in 1983. His love of the University and the Grounds drew him back in 1994 when he became a groundskeeper at U.Va. and took care of the Lawn, Pavilion Gardens, Monroe Hill and the University Cemetery before going into business for himself. His father, Robert Van de Castle, was on the U.Va. faculty.
