George King Jr. of Esmont, Va., who retired from the University of Virginia Medical Center in 1981 after 50 years of service, died Jan. 22. He was 89.

King worked 15 years as a baker in the hospital's kitchen and as supervisor of mail services for 35 years in the Medical Center.
