March 28, 2012 — Kathleen Marie Powers of Afton, a University of Virginia Health System nurse practitioner, died March 13. She was 58.
After obtaining her nursing degree from Boston City School of Nursing in 1977, Powers earned her nurse practitioner degree from U.Va. in 1980. She worked for several years in the U.Va. emergency room until joining the Nephrology Department, where she spent the majority of her career. Most recently, she saw patients through the U.Va. Multi-Specialty Clinic at Augusta Health.
