November 21, 2008 -- Waldemar G. Dahl, 89, a former associate professor in the School of Engineering and Applied Science, died Nov. 19 in Charlottesville. At U.Va., he supervised magnetic bearing research. Dahl, the founder of Montdomaine Cellars, retired to Virginia after being CEO of Falconbridge International, a nickel company based in Toronto. Previously he was the Vice President of Sales for Latrobe Steel of Latrobe, Pa.
