'Past Meets Present V' Features Art by U.Va. Alumni at Ruffin Hall

May 27, 2010 — Work by University of Virginia studio art alumni will be on view in Ruffin Gallery and exhibition space on all three floors of Ruffin Hall from June 4 through 25. A reception will be held June 4 from 5 to 7 p.m.

The group exhibition, "Past Meets Present V" includes work by alumni from 1975, '80, '85, '90, '95, '00 and '05, plus 2010-11 fifth-year students, present faculty and retired faculty members Robert Barbee, James Hagan and Ted Turner.

Also, there will be an unveiling of "Ruffin Hall Ground Break Sculpture," a work in process since its initial creation by those present at the Jan. 19, 2006, groundbreaking ceremony for Ruffin Hall. The piece is constructed and cast in bronze, steel and gold leaf and is the creation of numerous sculpture students from 2006 to the present.

Ruffin Gallery is open Mondays through Fridays, and June 5 and 6, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. On other weekends it will be open noon to 5 p.m.

The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public. Free parking is available in the Culbreth parking garage, located across from the U.Va. Drama Building on Culbreth Road.
