Phi Eta Sigma Establishes New Scholarship for U.Va. Staff

March 16, 2009 — Phi Eta Sigma, the first and largest first-year honor society in the country, has introduced a new scholarship that recognizes University of Virginia staff.

The $1,000 scholarship is available to full- or part-time employees of the University who are not professors, faculty or full-time students. Individuals may apply on their own without any nominations.

Phi Eta Sigma will award the scholarship to one recipient with at a banquet on April 14 at 5 p.m. at Jefferson Hall, Hotel C on the West Range. The winner will be chosen on the basis of many factors like personal life experience and character, with financial need weighing as the heaviest concern.

Applications must be placed in mailbox  No. 432 in the Student Activities Center in Newcomb Hall by Friday.
