June 6, 2008 — A newly released book, "Pitch Perfect: The Quest for Collegiate A Cappella Glory," features the University of Virginia's Hullabahoos competing against two other groups in the annual International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella.

During 2006 and 2007, author Mickey Rapkin, senior editor at GQ magazine, followed the Hullabahoos on several trips, both to high-profile gigs and around Charlottesville, to get an inside look at the all-male group of 17 students.

Now in their 20th year, the Hullabahoos held their yearly Big Spring Sing Thing concert at the Paramount Theatre in April. Both a live CD and a DVD of the concert have been released. Through the years, the group has performed at the White House, the Kennedy Center and NBC's "Today" show, among other venues.

The Hullabahoos have been making recordings steadily since 1991. Their version of "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" won a 2008 award from the Contemporary A Cappella Society in the Holiday Song category. Two of the group's recent CDs, "Varsity Sing Team" and "A Hullabahoos Christmas: Better Than Coal" were nominated for CARA awards.
