Staff Career Management Services Unveils New Web Site

February 18, 2009 — The University of Virginia's Staff Career Management Services, formerly known as Faculty and Staff Career Services, has redesigned its Web site with loads of online resources for career and education planning, and job searches, including online career and personal assessments. There is an "Ask the Career Advisor" section if online communication is your preference, and employees can now request an appointment online.

"This is an unrestricted Web site," Emily Bardeen, director of staff career management services, wrote in an e-mail to University employees. "If you have friends or family who are not U.Va. Academic Division employees and would like to use the site's tools and resources they are more than welcome."

Holly Heilberg, a career counselor with significant experience at U.Va., is working with Staff Career Management Services on Tuesdays and Wednesdays beginning at 11:30. To meet with her, request a confidential appointment through the Web site under the "contact us" tab or by phone at 243-4847.

For information, call or e-mail Bardeen at 924-4343 or ebardeen@virginia.edu.

Confidential appointments with a career advisor continue to be a benefit to temporary, wage and salaried employees in the Academic Division (agency 207). There is no charge, and salaried employees who meet with supervisor permission may record their time as hours worked.
