University of Virginia Library Alters Hours During Exam Period, May 1-11

April 30, 2007 -- The University of Virginia Library will limit access to its Clemons and Charles L. Brown Science and Engineering libraries to University students and faculty during the exam period, Tuesday, May 1 through Friday, May 11, 2007. “We’re making this change so students can concentrate on finishing the semester’s work and preparing for exams,” said University Librarian Karin Wittenborg.

“There is especially strong demand for Library resources—computers, materials, study spaces and staff assistance — during this time, and we want to make sure students and faculty are able to get what they need quickly and easily,”  Wittenborg continued.  “We also want to remind students to keep track of their personal belongings as thefts during this busy time can happen.”

Local visitors needing access to the Clemons and Brown libraries for research purposes will be able to request a guest pass. Alderman Library and other buildings within the U.Va. Library system will continue to be open to the public during the exam period, but priority for space and services will be given to students and faculty.  Detailed information on the Library’s usage polices is available on the web site: http://www.lib.virginia.edu/policies/use.html.
