U.Va. Groups Organize Annual Take Back the Night Rally, March and Vigil

April 1, 2008 — The University of Virginia and Charlottesville communities will join together for the annual "Take Back the Night" march and rally against domestic violence on Thursday, April 3. The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a rally at Washington Park. At 7:30, participants will march through city streets, down U.Va.'s Lawn and to U.Va.'s McIntire Amphitheatre for a vigil and "survivors' speak-out," where survivors of sexual assault are invited to share their stories anonymously with the U.Va. community.

Participants are urged to wear weather-appropriate gear and walking shoes and bring a flashlight.

The event is organized by two student groups, Sexual Assault Leadership Council and Feminism Is for Everyone.
