The University of Virginia today announced a special opportunity for members of the University community to experience – at no cost – the Boar’s Head Resort Winter Wander Trail of Lights.
“UVA Night at Winter Wander,” set for Monday, will provide students, faculty, staff and their families and guests access to free tickets to the second annual holiday lights festival at the resort.
Pre-registration is required, using a "Virginia.edu" email address, and ticket supplies are limited.
UVA faculty and staff are invited to attend Winter Wander on Monday (Dec. 12) between 4:30 and 8 p.m. Ticket registration may be completed at the faculty and staff registration section on the UVA Night at Winter Wander site. Each person may request a maximum of 10 tickets.
Students and their guests will be able to obtain tickets to attend UVA Night starting at 8 p.m. Ticket reservations may be found at the student registration section of the Winter Wander site. Students may register for a maximum of six guest tickets. Lights for the Winter Wander trail are turned off at 10:30 p.m.
In addition to the free entry, UVA community members will receive a complementary small hot chocolate and s’mores kits. Additional food vendors and Boar’s Head Resort drink and retail spaces will also be open, and families will have an opportunity to purchase photos with Santa.
Winter Wander is a predominantly hard-surface trail that circles nearly a half-mile around Heritage Lake behind the main hotel at Boar’s Head Resort. More than a half-million festive lights illuminate the landscape, providing a radiant experience perfect for photos and Instagram-worthy moments.
Those attending UVA Night at Winter Wander can drive to the resort at 200 Ednam Dr. and follow signs for the Winter Wander main entrance once on site.
Students and their guests needing a ride to the event may use a shuttle service provided by the University Transit Service. Pick-up for the shuttle will be located in front of the McCormick Road residence halls (across from the Chemistry Building) and will depart every 15 minutes starting at 7:45 p.m. Return shuttles will run from the Boar’s Head until 10:45 p.m.
