UVA welcomes first members to Class of 2030

The University of Virginia has extended admission offers to the first members of the Class of 2030.

Friday afternoon, 1,225 applicants received offers of admission, including 766 Virginians.

UVA has three application cycles, and the first, termed “early decision,” is binding, meaning applicants pledge to attend the University if offered admission. This year, 5,108 people applied in that cycle.

“We are incredibly grateful to every student who applied to UVA through our early admission plans and through our spring transfer process,” Dean of Admission Greg Roberts said. “These students will bring something meaningful and unique to the college they choose, and we send every applicant our sincere thanks for their faith in us and interest in UVA.”

Each year, the University admits several spring transfer students to the College of Arts & Sciences. Applicants apply by Oct. 1. Those decisions were delivered to 81 people earlier this month.

“These accomplished students – from across the commonwealth and around the world – have impressed us with their achievements, and we are confident they will thrive on Grounds and enrich our vibrant community,” Roberts said.

Two admission rounds for the Class of 2030 remain. Early action decisions will be released by Feb. 15, and regular decision notifications will follow by April 1. Neither option is binding, and those admitted students have until May 1 to confirm their enrollment.
