January 30, 2008 — The University of Virginia Wind Ensemble will present its February Concert on Sunday, Feb. 17 at 3:30 p.m. in Old Cabell Hall Auditorium. The program will include "Fantasies on a Theme by Haydn," by Norman Dello Joio; "Near Woodstocktown," by Percy Aldridge Grainger; and Ira Hearshen’s "Mambo Loco."
Tickets ($10 for adults, $5 for students and 5 ARTS$ for U.Va. students) may be reserved by calling the Cabell Hall Box Office at (434) 924-3984. The box office is open weekdays from noon to 5 p.m. and two hours prior to the performance.
The U.Va. Wind Ensemble is a 45-member ensemble featuring the most outstanding brass, woodwind and percussion players at the University. Under the direction of William Pease, director of bands at U.Va., and associate director Andrew Koch, the ensemble's focus is to explore new literature as well as perform the masterworks of the wind band era.
