In response to violent white supremacist rallies in Charlottesville on Aug. 11 and 12, the University of Virginia launched #HoosTogether, “an effort to unite our community in support of love, diversity and inclusion,” according to Director of Athletics Craig Littlepage.

In addition to serving as a social media hashtag to bring together images and messages of solidarity, “#HoosTogether” is now featured on patches worn on the uniforms of Cavalier athletes.

The department also debuted the short video above, featuring similar messages from UVA student-athletes, coaches, prominent alumni and University leaders including President Teresa A. Sullivan and political analyst Larry Sabato. The video debuted in Scott Stadium for the season-opening football game against William & Mary, and received an enthusiastic reception.
