February 9, 2012 —The scale of architectural works, big and small, will be discussed by Australian architect Catherine Lassen at a Dean's Forum lecture at the University of Virginia's School of Architecture on Feb. 15.
Lassen's lecture, "Seeing As: Work Large and Small," will take place at 5:30 p.m. in Campbell Hall, room 153.
Lassen is a lecturer at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia, and principal of Catherine Lassen Architecture. In 1995, she completed her master of architecture degree at Harvard University and worked the following year for Rem Koolhaas/OMA in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
Her work has been featured in the 2008 Venice Biennale and published in Architecture Australia, Architecture Bulletin, Monument and elsewhere. As project architect for Leers Weinzapfel Associates, she led the winning competition entry for a major industrial building and baseball field for the University of Pennsylvania. The design received numerous national awards, including a National American Institute of Architect's Honor Award and publication in the May 2001 issue of Architectural Record.
She also curated an exhibition, "Glenn Murcutt: Thinking Drawing Working Drawing," in Tokyo.
