In the last episode of “UVA Weekly” for the fall semester, University of Virginia President Jim Ryan and fourth-year student host Nia Augustine focus on gratitude, thanking students, faculty and staff for their hard work this semester.
Augustine also directs students to some financial aid resources, including applications for Spring CARES Act funding, which will be posted on the Student Financial Services site in December, and the UVA Mutual Aid organization, run by Student Council to offer grants to students experiencing financial hardship due to the pandemic.
The show concludes with thoughts from other Hoos around Grounds, reflecting on what they have been thankful for this semester.
Fittingly, the annual Lighting of the Lawn celebration was slated to livestream immediately after “UVA Weekly” this week. For nearly 20 years now, the wintertime tradition has reminded the UVA community to find light in the darkness. You can view the celebration here.
