This week’s “UVA Weekly” episode includes an update from University of Virginia President Jim Ryan about restrictions on Grounds, information about upcoming activities that students can attend, and a feature on one of UVA’s research labs, where researchers have been hard at work studying COVID-19 treatments and vaccine possibilities.
Ryan opens the episode with more information about restrictions on Grounds, including a five-person gathering limit, which have been extended another two weeks to continue curtailing the spread of the virus.
Student co-host Davion Zeno discusses the importance of talking about COVID-19 protocols with roommates and friends. He also shared ways students can get out and stay connected while complying with current guidelines, including activities planned by UVA’s IM-Rec Sports group.
This week’s episode also includes a segment on Dr. William Petri’s lab, where researchers are studying the immune response to COVID-19 and vaccine possibilities; and a virtual tour of UVA’s new Memorial to Enslaved Laborers conducted by 2019 graduate Jessica Harris.
