“Super Saturday” Financial Aid Workshop Scheduled for Albemarle High School on Saturday, Feb. 4

January 31, 2006 — High school students and their parents will learn the steps needed to complete financial aid forms during the “Super Saturday" Financial Aid Workshop at Albemarle High School on Saturday, Feb. 4.

Sponsored by the Virginia Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, the University of Virginia and Piedmont Community College, the hands-on workshop will explain the federal and state financial aid process and give participants an opportunity to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on line with assistance from financial aid counselors.

The event will feature “Basics of Financial Aid” presentations at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. conducted by Yvonne Hubbard, director of student financial services at U.Va. and Carol Larson, financial aid director for PVCC. Students and parents will also have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with a financial aid counselor to ask specific questions and get advice on the process.

All students are welcome to the event, whether or not they plan to attend either U.Va. or PVCC and regardless of their age or class year. Two book scholarships will be awarded during the event.

Super Saturday is an annual VASFAA event and is being held at 27 sites throughout the commonwealth of Virginia.
