Continuing and Professional Studies Wins Marketing Awards

March 21, 2008 — The University of Virginia School of Continuing and Professional Studies has won four awards in the University Continuing Education Association's Marketing Awards Competition.

The SCPS won a gold award for the Travel & Learn postcard, "We Offer You a World of Ideas" about the program for lifelong learners that includes "Summer on the Lawn" seminars and trips to Europe.

Graphic designer Elaine Melton, Jennifer Oppenheimer, director of Personal Enrichment Programs and Marketing, and Joan Gore, director of Travel Programs, worked on the project.

Bronze awards went to the Personal Enrichment Evening Courses catalog, the Northern Virginia Center Awareness brochure and the Regional Center bookmarks.

Along with Melton and Oppenheimer, staff who worked on these projects included Jane Paluda, assistant dean for marketing, graphic designer Lee Sherratt and Cari Dellinger, former marketing director at the Northern Virginia Center.

The UCEA's Marketing and Publications Community of Practice sponsors two annual competitions — the Marketing and Publications Awards and the Strategic Marketing Awards — to recognize the best marketing practices and promotional pieces in the field of continuing education. After a team of judges reviews the entries, the chosen winners are announced at the association’s annual conference.

The 2008 award winners will be recognized at this year's conference in New Orleans, March 26–29.
