Accolades: Dr. Paul D. Mintz Among First in National Blood Foundation Hall of Fame

April 18, 2008 — The National Blood Foundation has elected Dr. Paul D. Mintz, professor of pathology and medicine and director of the Clinical Laboratories and Transfusion Services at the University of Virginia Health System, to the inaugural class of its Hall of Fame. Mintz and 11 other inductees were recognized for sustained excellence in research and leadership in transfusion medicine.

The National Blood Foundation is a grant-funding organization for research in cellular therapies and transfusion medicine. Mintz, a past president of the American Association of Blood Banks, has previously been recognized as an NBF Scholar.
