University of Virginia students arriving in Charlottesville will soon notice that many University Transit System buses have a new look, and some specific requests: “Be safe, for all of us” or “Keep Charlottesville safe, for all of us.”
The messages are accompanied by photos of students, faculty and staff in masks, including President Jim Ryan and Director of Athletics Carla Williams, both shown here, and many more familiar faces.
Workers from contractor Worth Higgins & Associates recently installed the banners, printed by UVA Facilities Management’s sign shop, on 20 buses, with a few more to go in the coming weeks.
The new look is one part of a broad, University-wide effort to call attention to and enforce the many public health policies and protocols UVA has adopted for the fall semester, including mask wearing, physical distancing and numerous other safety measures.
