British Landscape Architect Kathryn Moore to Give Sept. 12 Lecture at the U.Va. School of Architecture

September 4, 2008 — Kathryn Moore, landscape architect and professor at the Birmingham Institute of Art and Design at England's Birmingham City University, will give the University of Virginia School of Architecture's Thomas Jefferson Lecture. Her talk, "Design and Nature" will be held Sept. 12 at 5 p.m. in Campbell Hall.

Moore's research, writing and teaching focuses on landscape architecture and its relationship to architecture, urban design and the arts, as well as philosophy of educational disciplines applied to the arts. Her recently completed book, "Demystifying the Art of Design," brings to light the philosophical underpinnings of the discussion of the relationship between critical and artistic discourse and its application to design education.

The lecture free and open to the public. For more information visit the School of Architecture Web site.
