Digital Edition of Dolley Madison Papers Gets Grant

September 17, 2010 — Holly C. Shulman, a research professor in history in the University of Virginia's College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences and director of Documents Compass, has received a $67,000 grant from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission to support the Dolley Madison Digital Edition.

Shulman is the head editor of the first-ever complete collection of Dolley Madison's letters, with the digital edition being published by the University of Virginia Press imprint, Rotunda. The grant will help boost the collection's contents.

Housed at the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities, Documents Compass helps plan and develop documentary editions as their editors bring the work into the digital age.
