Engineering Alumna to Sign Copies of Her Book, "HerStory"

September 4, 2009 — Jill S. Tietjen, a 1976 graduate of the University of Virginia, will sign copies of her book, "HerStory: A Timeline of the Women Who Changed America," on Sept. 10 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at New Dominion Bookshop on Charlottesville's Downtown Mall.

Tietjen is the co-author with Charlotte S. Waisman of the book, a pictorial history of women who played key roles in the history of American sciences, arts, politics, education and other fields. She is the CEO of Technically Speaking, a national consulting company specializing in improving opportunities for women and girls to have more career options in technology.

In 2007, the U.Va. Women's Center presented her with its Distinguished Alumna Award. With Betty Reynolds, she authored the "Setting the Record Straight" series, which explores the history of women's accomplishments in accounting, engineering and professional achievement.
