Mark Edmundson, Gregory Orr to Read at U.Va. Bookstore on April 29

April 12, 2010 — University of Virginia English professors Mark Edmundson and Gregory Orr will read from their work on April 29 at 8 p.m. in the U.Va. Bookstore mezzanine.

The event, free and open to the public, will launch Edmundson's new memoir, "The Fine Wisdom and Perfect Teachings of the Kings of Rock and Roll," to be released in early May.

Edmundson has published several books on literary criticism and other topics. His most recent titles include "The Death of Sigmund Freud: Fascism, Psycho-analysis and the Rise of Fundamentalism," "Why Read?" and "Teacher: The One Who Made the Difference." He has also written for publications such as The New York Times Magazine, The Chronicle of Higher Education, The Nation, The American Scholar and Harper's magazine.

Orr, whose most recent book is "How Beautiful the Beloved," will read a selection of his poems. He has published 10 books of poetry, a memoir and several books of non-fiction, including "Poetry as Survival."
