U.Va. Innovation will unveil its 2013 Edlich-Henderson Innovator of the Year April 17 at a special reception at the Jefferson Theater on the Downtown Mall.
The highest honor bestowed on University of Virginia innovators, the award recognizes an individual or team each year whose research discovery is making a major impact. Winners receive a $10,000 cash prize.
Media are invited to attend the event, which begins at 5:30 p.m. The Innovator of the Year will be named at a brief ceremony beginning at 6 p.m.
The following people will be available for media interviews:
- 2013 Edlich-Henderson Innovator of the Year (TBA at the event)
- W. Mark Crowell, executive director of U.Va. Innovation and associate vice president for research at U.Va.
- Michael P. Straightiff, director of the U.Va. Licensing & Ventures Group
- Thomas C. Skalak, U.Va. vice president for research
