The University of Virginia Chapel’s bells will toll Thursday at 1:55 p.m. to honor the memories and legacies of student-athletes Devin Chandler, D’Sean Perry and Lavel Davis Jr., who were fatally shot three years earlier on Grounds.
UVA students, faculty and staff across the University are encouraged to participate in a moment of silence while the bells toll to honor their lives.
Other memorial events open to the University community are also planned:
- Lift Every Voice and Sing Memorial Concert, Wednesday, 6-7:30 p.m., Vinegar Hill Theatre, 220 W. Market Street
- 1-15-41 Memorial March, Thursday, at the conclusion of the bell tolling. The march will begin at the UVA Chapel and end at the memorial tree planted on the Betsy and John Casteen Arts Grounds
- Candlelight vigil, Thursday, 6-8 p.m., South Lawn
The three student-athletes were with classmates returning from a field trip on Nov. 13, 2022, when a gunman on their bus took their lives and wounded two other students.
